IREM MEGA Meeting featuring NFL Official Sarah Thomas

Wednesday, October 23, 2019

Washington Marriott Wardman Park

2:00 - 3:00pm Registration Hour & Sponsor Showcase
3:00 - 4:30pm Keynote Presentation
4:30 - 6:00pm Networking Reception

Sarah Thomas changed the game in the world's most quintessential male-dominated sport - Football.  Now she's inspiring others to dream big and believe anything is possible.

This seminar and training session is OPEN to ANYONE to attend! No matter what industry you are in or position you hold, EVERYONE will walk away with the tools needed to sharpen their personal and professional knowledge.

Officiating her first game September 13, 2015 between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans, Sarah's hat, whistle, and flag are now on display at the NFL Hall of Fame and serve as a testament to this historic achievement. No stranger to being the first or breaking gender-barriers, she was the first female official to ever work a major college football game, to officiate a bowl game and to officiate in a Big Ten stadium.  Sarah also made post-season history by being named Down Judge for the Patriots/Chargers 2019 Playoff Game.

Since her addition to the NFL's roster of officials, she has become a trail-blazing inspiration to women everywhere, embodying the notion that with a belief in self, inner drive, hard work, preparation, and a mindset of being the best you can be, no barrier or ceiling is impenetrable!

Come hear her essential leadership lessons from her journey to the top of a male-dominated industry and vital insights on shattering the glass ceiling in the world of professional sports that can be applied to any field or industry.  As an exemplar of what's possible if you believe, Sarah will give you takeaways on breaking through in your own career, staying focused under pressure, creating change, managing work-life balance and being the best you can be.

IREM IYP Event

May Paintball Challenge Recap!

IREM West-Central MD 92 VS. IREM Maryland 16

Sponsored by:

LUX Flooring Specialists, KOLB Electric, Minkoff Company & Associates Plumbing, Inc.

Despite some storms, we were able to finally get play in for our Inaugural Paintball Challenge against the IREM Maryland Chapter.  IREM West-Central MD won the first two games, then IREM Maryland battled back to win the next two games.  We suffered a devastating loss in the tie-breaker match and had to graciously hand over the trophy to the IREM Maryland Chapter.  BUT... we ALL had an awesome time!

Great games, great food and drinks, and great company turned out for this fun IYP event.  Special thank you to our Sponsors and for all the spectators who came out to cheer both teams on.

We are hoping that this will turn into an Annual Challenge between the two IREM Chapters in Maryland.  We are also hoping that IREM West-Central MD takes home the trophy in 2020!!

If you are interested in sponsoring and/or participating in an upcoming event,
please contact our IYP Chairs - Jesse Martinez, CPM or Phillip Naithram, CPM
Stay tuned for news on upcoming events in 2019 or visit the IYP Section of our chapter website.

Community Involvement Update

IREM 92 partnered with The Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless (MCCH) on a School Supply Drive to help formerly homeless children in Montgomery County prepare for the 2019-2020 school year.

Success in school is critical to breaking the inter-generational cycle of poverty.  The Community Involvement Committee used $500 of budgeted funds to donate to the "Back To School Fair" and Lynn Rose of MCCH was on hand at our June meeting to collect the donations.  Thank you to all the chapter members and guests who brought donations to this event to support the "Back To School Fair."

Have an idea for an upcoming community involvement project or want to serve on this committee??

Contact: Tonya Trotman-Clark, CPM

Private Offerings:

Spread the word that Private Offering Courses are available for your company - groups of 10 or more.  This means an instructor comes to your site and holds a class for just your company's employees.  The idea is to get a group of people to "fast track" their way to a CPM, ARM, or ACoM designation.  The more people in the class, the lower the price per person.  For more information on this excellent opportunity, contact the Region 3 Education office at 301.948.6234 or click here for more information.

Online Self-Paced Courses:

For those interested in taking courses at their own pace, IREM offers many online self-paced courses.  Open new doors for yourself with the help of IREM education.  With our online and classroom courses, you'll give yourself a leg up in the constantly evolving world of real estate management.
